not only ... but (also)...不會造成句子的倒裝
not only ... 也不會造成句子的倒裝

只有only所引領的子句或片語移到句首時，會造成主句的倒裝：
Only on weekends do we get away from the city.
Only when they are bothered will bees attack.
Only by working hard can we succeed.

還有一些強制的倒裝句如下：
由so, nor, neither
John is young, and so is Mary.
You are not stupid, and neither am I.
Amy hasn't gotten married, and nor has Cindy.
 
否定的副詞（或副詞性質的片語）提到句首時，會造成強制倒裝：
Not a single ship could they see.
Never had he gone there alone before.
Little do they know about their son's affairs.
另外有seldom, scarcely, hardly, barely, rarely, in vain, on no account, not until, not since, under no circumstance等。這些字放句首都會造成強制倒裝現象。

有些倒裝句不是強制性的。只是修辭的手法。如: With power comes responsibility.
